The sport of time attack differs greatly between the US and Japan.  While the dedication and enthusiasm for racing are met with equality, the philosophy of how limitation is interpreted is contrasted greatly.  In the US, a high level of focus is put into building cars to a specific set of class rules.  Street class, limited class, enthusiast class, modified class, etc., each restricting their ability to go faster in one way or another; understandably, not everyone has the means to build an unlimited car.  However, this leaves a gap between what is allowed and what is truly achievable.

The ethos behind NDF Attack Challenge is to bridge the gap between these two worlds and introduce Japanese style time attack to the top drivers in the US by providing them a stage without limitation; to embody the originating idea of time attack.  Throwing away the rule books and breaking drivers into three classes with little to no limitation.

Included in this concept is not just a barrier free way of building cars, but an added focus on aesthetics; not only the cars, but the experience as a whole.  The sights, sounds and interaction should personify the speed of the drivers on track.  An ‘all eyes on the driver’, super lap style drive with live, turn by turn track announcement energizes and inspires the spectators.  In this regard, there is much lacking in present-day track events.

Ideally, we would like the event to evolve the mindset of how drivers and fans view time attack as a motor sport.  Not just a sport for drivers, but a high-tension form of racing that demands attention.  For drivers to not look at themselves as just individuals, but to use their platforms to inspire.  To not settle.  To erase the mindset of function over form and replace it with an alternative that personifies both.

NDF Attack Challenge was an idea crafted in the traditions of limitless time attack competition in Japan. By emulating the classing and style of the country in which the motor sport discovered its origins, we aim to showcase the true spirit of Japanese time attack; a dedication to a single platform with little to no restrictions.

The underlying objective of time attack has always been continuous improvement. A founding principle of the sport is to achieve faster lap times built upon past results. Drivers who return time after time are devoted to these values - and it shows on track. NDF Attack Challenge celebrates their dedication to victory and aims to inspire others to advance their own drive.

This is the true spirit of attack.

Classing:

Our classing resulted from a thinktank of drivers and enthusiasts with years of experience both on and off the track, both driving and organizing events. NDF AC has a different understanding of what the sport of time attack is; one that has extraordinarily little constraints in classing and restrictions. The classing is a definite departure from the North American HPDE style events we are naturally accustomed to, but one that we feel is important to have a place in the sport. Our classing enhances the excitement of the drivers and spectators alike and provides the stage for top drivers to hit their limit.
